Rebecca Wass grew up in Clovis and graduated from California State University, Fresno with a degree in mass communications and journalism, emphasizing in public relations. Ironically she was born at Fresno Community Hospital, now called Community Regional Medical Center, and today works for the Community Medical Centers’ hospital network in the corporate communications department as a communications specialist.

Wass is involved in many facets of the communications team, such as the transition of acute care services from University Medical Center to Community Regional Medical Center in spring 2007. She contributes through photography, writing, creating and idea implementation for MedWatchToday.com, MedWatch the TV show, CommunityMedical.org, Community’s intranet, campaign and project management and event communication.

Wass was named “Rookie of the Year” for the Public Relations Society of America Central California Chapter in 2006 and has won two international Telly Awards for her MedWatch TV segments. Community’s communications department won Outstanding Co-op/Internship Employer award from the California Cooperative Education and Internship Association in 2007 and Wass plays a vital role in the Fresno State interns’ experience. She enjoys overseeing the students and knows first-hand of the importance of teaching the interns all she can before they step into “the real world.”
